Arab Secondary High School (ASHS)

1. Administration
A work team comprising of a Principal, General Superintendent, Cycle Superintendents, Secretaries and an Accounting Department runs Beirut Arab Secondary School.

The President of the School is Dr. Hussein Ali Yatim, who is also the President of the Educational Arab Institutes in Lebanon.
2. Admission
A. Admission Procedures:

A student must file the following documents:

  • An Individual Extract, an identity card or a passport
  • A certified scholastic certificate and an official transcript for the holders of Official Degrees
  • Good conduct and behavior certificate from the former school
  • A health certificate whenever necessary
  • Two photographs

A successful, old student reserves his right for the next year according to certain conditions and deadlines specified thereof.

However, a student who has flanked one subject matter, as well as all new students, shall not be admitted unless they pass the supplementary and entry exams respectively. Any student who has bad conduct shall be ultimately and irrevocably expelled. As for the students who flank a class for two successive years, they are transferred into vocational majors.

B. Scholarships:

In general, Beirut Arab Secondary School grants subsidies and scholarships to its students, in particularly the students of martyrs, orphans, displaced and handicapped. Some of these are full subsidies and scholarships (waiver from any payment of tuition fees).
3. Faculty
The faculty at Beirut Arab Secondary School consists of diversified and skillful individuals that are selected among the most proficient and experienced.

A teaching diploma is a must for recruiting a teacher. An approved teacher shall have to abide by the pedagogic and educational objectives that are set by the school. He or she shall have to take training and formation sessions and workshops continuously, and as long as the educational development process is ongoing.
4. Curriculum
The curriculum adopted is the same as the one assumed by the Republic of Lebanon. Teaching is executed by using the modern and innovative means and methodologies so that the student is supplied with the most updated knowledge possible.

    Secondary (Fourth) Cycle

    First Secondary, Second Secondary and Third Secondary

    It is the final cycle of scholastic life. By the end of the same cycle, the students sit for the Official Exams (Official Baccalaureate Degree in all branches: Life Sciences, General Sciences, Economy & Sociology and Humanities)

    Information technology is introduced to students from the elementary stage through the secondary cycle.

    The school also provides social and psychological support and counseling. Moreover, all students are insured against accidents and medical care. In addition, the school has a huge stage and a hall for occasions, celebrations and artistic activities. Both outdoor and indoor courts are provided. It encircles a library, scientific laboratories and a computer room.

    Languages:

    Beside Arabic, the mother tongue, English and French are taught upon the selection of the parents and students. In fact, students who are French educated begin taking English as a foreign language as of the fourth grade (beginning of the second cycle) similarly to those students who are English educated and who start taking French as a foreign language as of the fourth grade. However, experience has shown that it is easier to learn English for whoever starts learning French.
6. Extracurricular Activities
Our establishment focuses a lot on lectures and cultural seminars. Culture is the bedrock of each society. This is why we are highly involved in various cultural activities in arts, music, oratory, fairs and competitions.

Specialists and venues for these activities are provided by the school.
7. Graduates
As of its establishment, the school has been graduating many generations that the school is proud of. Most of our graduates are filling high posts in all fields and majors, such as in politics, military, economical, educational, cultural, media and free trades.

9. Parent Committees
Parent committees at our schools are elected on the basis of the laws and regulations in effect as well as the educational needs. Delegates from the Ministry of Education and Higher Studies supervise these elections.
